You probably have never realized that what you have for lunch can determine your financial condition and health. But there are studies and also surveys done to workers and employees in London. For some people, the option for lunch can be vary. Some people prefer taking their last night’s risotto or curry leftover, while some may prefer going to the closest takeaway diners to get something efficient and quick – most likely sandwich – so they can have a quick bite.
Most people don’t realize that that extra spending they are making for the quick bite is showing their financial ability. After all, you do need to have the budgets to be able to enjoy such efficient lunch. If you don’t have the extra money – which means that you have a good financial condition and health – you won’t want to spend such extra money for lunch only. Do you know that lunch bill in London can reach £830 annually? Considering that you spend around £3 to £5 per lunch, it is quite a huge spending. Moreover, the simple choice of wanting to buy lunch from the nearest vendors show that consumers have changing taste and they are mostly feeling good and confident about their condition.
Lunch industry is basically a lucrative business, producing £44.9 billions in 2013 in UK alone. The numbers were generated from millions of lunch options that were served and sold in 260,000 outlets. The director of business development and marketing, Emma Read, claims that people tend to spend more money and eat out when they know that they have extra budgets available. Their spending may not be glamorous or extravagant at all, but the trend shows that people tend to spend more when they are confident about their financial condition and they know that they have healthy financials. Read says that outlets are trying to escape recession, but then again, consumers have their own preferences and they can be quite demanding. After all, not all workers have the privilege for leisure lunch – it is more like business and efficient fast lunch; a trend that is happening right now.
However, business analysts also see that whereas this is a trend showing economic recovery, people should understand that such trend isn’t happening at the same level across the country. Since the end of recession, lunch visits to quick diners and outlets in London has increased to 17.1% and it also includes visits to bakeries, coffee shops, and fast food spots within the last 5 years. However, in other regions and areas in Britain, the increase only reaches 4.4% within the same time. Based on the research, it is clear that lunches in London are much faster in growth when compared to other places in Britain. The price range is also different. In London, a customer needs to spend around £3.50 to £4 per lunch, while one only needs to spend £2.80 to £3 in other parts of Britain.
Buying Lunches vs Making One
If you are trying to be economically logical, you probably turn to making your own lunches – which will help you save significant spending on lunches. Yes, it is financially making more sense, but is it more efficient? Matthew Wood, the director of Vouchercloud.com, says that the hectic schedule and busy lifestyles compel people to choose convenience and efficiency over economy, which is more logical and more understandable for today busy people. Wood says that people somehow see it easier to develop a routine to visiting the closest shop to buy the sandwich instead of making one. Making sandwiches is viewed as a more complicated and complex ritual as you need to plan weekly (or monthly) shopping and then still need to dedicate yourself in preparing one. Moreover, busy lifestyle and work habits may contribute to the frantic working condition. Around 52% of Londoners bring their lunch to their working desks, while only 38% of other people in other regions in Britain do the same thing.
The survey and research also find out that there are five main lunch options that Londoners like to buy:
- Chicken sandwich, mostly bought by customers, with 10.95 of purchase
- BLT (bacon) sandwich, with 7.7% of purchase
- Beef burger, with 7% of purchase
- Veggie or cheese sandwich, with 6.6% of purchase
- French fries or chips, with 6.1% of purchase
Note: the data was taken from NPD group from August 2014 study
The Newest Trends
Now, since there is clear indication that what you have for lunch is related to your financial health, there is also another trend showing up. Fast casual dining is growing in popularity nowadays, with tag price set between £5 and £10; naturally, the menu is more sophisticated from the lunch’s menus under £5. This rather sophisticated lunch is regularly served over the counter and includes international or Mexican cuisine – or those with health focused inclusion. Such casual dining wasn’t heavily affected by the recession; unlike the sit-down, formal lunches that set the price higher, around £10 to £20. With casual dining, there are always choices of flexibility and adaptable nature, making them more appealing in hospitals, transport hubs, and also shopping malls.
Emma Read claims that such flexibility is important, considering that consumers are more demanding these days, and they want more of personal choices. Granted that chicken sandwich may be the most popular option nowadays, but with the increasing expectation and demands, customers may be given various kinds of ingredients in order to give them access of creating personalized lunch. Such option has been available now, with customers being given the options to choose what kind of sauces or salad that they want.
Moreover, technology should also take part for better and more developed lunch options. Online options, for instance, should be considered further. Not to mention that diners should also provide WiFi connection as well as being ready to take delivery order from customers, who can make the order from their smartphone or computer. If such idea is appealing, it is also possible to develop ideas about online vouchers or discount coupons.

The Juice Recipes
Here are some examples and ideas of some of the healthy juice recipes. Keep in mind that they aren’t written in stone, so feel free to replace any of the ingredients with any substances that you see fit.

Acer has a lot of hopes when they were designing their Chromebook 15 – and they still do. Of course, there are loads of good things that you can expect from a powerful and well-known brand like Acer, but unfortunately, the company doesn’t try as hard as they should, leaving some possible flaws and downsides that may affect the quality and performance of the laptop. No, it doesn’t mean that Chromebook 15 is all bad or whatsoever; it’s just Acer can still do better than that.
The Good and the Bad
There are so many things that you will like from this new laptop. For a starter, the performance is just superb. The whole look may seem ordinary in its simplicity, but there is no doubt that this laptop has impressive and amazing performance. Second, the battery is long lasting, able to tackle long hours of work without compromising quality. You can leave your charger at home as you will be able to use the laptop whole day long at work without having to recharge it again and again. Third, the built and design are simply nice. It is sturdy and solid, and yet it isn’t buff or heavy. It has its own classic and elegant appeal which makes the laptop nice to look at. Fourth, it is quite affordable – considering that it comes packing with complete features and specs that make it a champion. Fifth, it has very nice sound system with loudspeakers. In case you want to play your favorite games (the not-so-heavy ones), the speakers will do.
However, all the good stuffs always have their own flaws, including this Acer Chromebook. For a starter, critics claim that such laptop is quite big for a Chromebook – which is generally smaller and more compact. Second, the display is, unfortunately, dull despite the bigger screen. Apparently, 15-inch size doesn’t automatically make a display screen better to look at.
All in all, if you want a big screen laptop with quite a decent image quality (mind you, the word is decent, not mind-blowing or even impressive), an impressive Intel fifth generation CPU, and very nice battery life, this is the laptop of your choice. Some people don’t really care if the image quality isn’t so perfect; for them, performance is better and more important than image quality and look.
About the Laptop
It is a good thing that Acer decided to produce this $250 device, after all. With this Chromebook 15, it will be the first Chromebook with 15.6-inch display screen. Acer is also releasing a higher level of $350 Chromebook that comes with full HD quality – this is the only additional feature that you will get if you choose the $350 type. With Intel Celeron processing chip, be ready to deal with speedy quality and performance, which means that you can get most of your things done without having to worry about lag or delay. The long lasting battery is very helpful and good speakers to top it off will just make your day better and brighter. Basically, Acer creates Chromebook 15 to offer better and bigger Chrome experience without you having to break the bank.
For the design, this laptop is quite good and solid. Yes, it is covered in plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap or cheesy at all. Moreover, the addition of woven texture is good to create better grip. Acer claims that this laptop is also safe for kids – but I don’t think I will give a 15-inch device to any of my kids, anyway – but hey, it is a good thought from Acer, anyway. There are two color options for this Chromebook, a black and white. The white looks sleeker and elegant, but the black looks more solid and stronger.
The total dimension of this Chromebook 15 is around 9.7 x 15.1 x 0.95 inch, which means that it is definitely thicker than Toshiba Chromebook 2 with its 13-inch display screen, Samsung Chromebook 2 with its 13-inch screen, and also HP Chromebook 14 with its 14-inch screen. It weighs around 4.4 pounds, which makes it heavier than the three variants. Toshiba is only 2.9 pounds, Samsung is only 3 pounds, and HP is only 4 pounds. From this category alone, it is obvious that this Acer Chromebook is designed for stationary usage – for work or home usage – rather than for traveling, but you have to admit that 4.4 pounds is definitely light for a device with 15-inch dimension.
The keyboard comes with black island style on a white deck. The touchpad is pretty generous. The screen comes with anti-flare coat and you can find a webcam with its 720p quality on top of it. As it was mentioned before, it is quite unfortunate that the 15-inch screen with its 1080 pixel quality is quite big, but with no-so-promising picture quality. Yes, some of the parts are quite good and clear, but there are also some parts that look dull and somehow muted. The laptop offers different viewing angles, allowing you to see the images clearly. Keep in mind, though, that once you move more than 45 degrees, the quality will be diminished. The anti-glare coating doesn’t seem to help much either since there are some reflected lights that you can see when the screen is dark. When compared to other Chromebooks, the Chromebook 15 is dimmer than Toshiba’s but relatively better and brighter than HP’s or Samsung’s.
Since this laptop is designed with Chrome browsing functionality, the operating system is quite minimal. You can find other apps and settings in the menu or on the operational bar. Another good thing is that you can enjoy Google Goodies, which allow you to enjoy 100GB capacity for Google Driver (you can have it for free for 2 years), 60 days pass for All Access Google Play Music, and also 12 in-air pass for WiFi GoGo Inflight access within US domestic flights. You can also enjoy the offline apps like Google Docs, Gmail Offline, Wunderlist, Evernote, and so many more. This laptop has quite good performance with Intel Celeron dual core 1.6 GHz 3205U CPU which isn’t only fast, but also reliable.
